Pararescue and CRO Prepatory Course (Prep course) Information

The Preparatory course is specifically designed to ensure all Pararescue and Combat Rescue Officer (CRO) students are at a relatively similar physical and mental condition at the beginning of the Indoctrination Course, allow them to function much better as a team, and improve their chances of success in the Indoctrination Course and subsequent pipeline. CROs and senior crosstrainees may also experience leadership and management duties as class leader/assistant class leaders while at this course as well as the follow-on pipeline training.

POVs are not authorized for use (while at, to, or from) while attending the Preparatory course. All active duty and ANG/RES Combat Rescue Officer (CRO) students must arrive with a completed and current Class III flying physical with AETC Surgeon General approval/stamp indicating that member is medically qualified to perform Airborne Parachutist, Combat Diver Qualification, and Military Freefall duties IAW Army Reg 40-501 and Air Force Instruction 48-123 medical standards.

All students MUST arrive to the Pararescue/CRO Preparatory Course having successfully completed the Pararescue Physical Ability and Stamina Test (PAST) or Selection Phase critieria (for CROs). Students MUST arrive with a letter (see letter template attached) documenting their PAST results and the letter MUST be completed/signed by the test administrator.
